Our suggested first task: create a fictional gardening newsletter's header. Ask for a watering can, seedlings and generous clear space, first as a paper collage and then as a simple painted illustration. Keep the subject, layout and colours constant so the comparison answers one question: which style supports the publication? Save the selected direction together with its prompt. Ask a colleague to identify the subject before telling them what it is supposed to show.

For an illustration series, compare line weight, colour and subject proportions across images.
