Promptfoo is an open-source developer tool for AI-application evaluation and adversarial red teaming. Its configuration combines prompts, target models or endpoints, examples and checks. The quickstart explains setup and inspecting failure cases. It suits a team able to connect and maintain a test target.

Before your first security scan

Start with staging, synthetic records and restricted credentials. Read the current prerequisites before installing. Generation and grading may use hosted services; running the scanner on your laptop does not mean every operation stays local. Review data handling before adding internal material. A passing result only describes the cases and criteria you ran.
