OpenAI’s October 21 announcement includes 14 additional Latin American countries, among them Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Peru. Other additions include Nigeria, South Africa, Serbia and Ukraine. The company says ads appear only in the Free and Go plans; Plus, Pro and Enterprise remain without advertising. Businesses in the newly covered countries can use technology partners or manage campaigns themselves.

The advertiser guide explains the practical route. After signing up, advertisers enter Ads Manager, where they can create an account and campaigns. They set a campaign budget and goal, then either upload advertising details in bulk or enter them directly. After launch, the tool supports measuring results and editing campaigns. Step-by-step Help Center resources accompany the workflow. OpenAI also offers sales support for larger advertisers with more complex needs.

For users, OpenAI’s January 16 advertising principles describe controls over the information used for ads: personalization can be switched off and advertising data cleared. The company says conversations remain private from advertisers and that it does not sell them user data. Its principles also separate labeled ads from answers and state that advertising does not influence responses. These are the provider’s commitments, rather than an independent assessment of implementation.
