AI in a Microsoft 365 work environment

Microsoft Copilot for work, formerly named Microsoft 365 Copilot, works with Microsoft 365 apps and organizational information the user has permission to access. The work context and account matter when choosing this tool.

When should you explore it?

Our suggested use is a task involving documents your team already maintains. Choose a small, current collection first, so you can compare the answer with material you know. Ask the assistant to separate confirmed decisions from open questions.

A useful first task

Using a project brief you may access, request a one-page handover with goals, responsibilities and unresolved issues. Require a reference for each factual statement and ask it to mark missing owners instead of inventing them. Compare names and deadlines against the original document.

What to check

Check your organization’s license and administrator settings before assuming a feature is available. Review Microsoft’s service description. Confirm that shared project files have the intended permissions before broadening the trial.
