Google starts bringing Personal Intelligence to Android Auto
Optional personalization uses connected Google apps; cars with Google built-in follow in the coming months.
Google’s announcement describes help based on information already in connected apps, such as finding an appointment’s destination. The Android Auto rollout began on October 20. If personalization is already enabled in Gemini, that choice carries into the car. Vehicles with Google built-in only provide personal responses with your phone connected. Without personalization, navigation, music, calls and ordinary questions remain available.
Eligibility and checking answers
The product overview limits the beta to eligible personal Google accounts held by adults (18+) and excludes Workspace business, enterprise and education users. The European Economic Area, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Nigeria are excluded from the rollout. Google says Gemini will try to identify or explain the connected information behind an answer so users can verify it; if it does not, they can ask for more information.
Disconnecting is not deleting
Google’s Connected Apps help distinguishes disconnecting an app from deleting Gemini Apps Activity. Disconnecting, or deleting data in the connected app, does not remove that activity. Deleting Gemini activity does not delete information in other services either. Updates or deletions in a connected app may take days to affect Gemini. These choices also leave other personalization settings unchanged: enabled Memory can still use past chats. Gemini can still draw on public websites and videos when Search and YouTube are not connected.
