Apple announced French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish support on October 26; access still depends on device, language and region.

Apple’s announcement describes the assistant as a beta requiring an Apple Intelligence-capable device set to a supported language. It remains unavailable on iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch in the European Union, and to users under thirteen. Features using server-side models, including this assistant, have daily usage limits that can vary with the request and system conditions. Language expansion does not remove these restrictions.

The iPhone release notes explain what changes in conversation: the assistant can recall earlier exchanges, such as restaurant recommendations from last week. It can draw on photos attached to messages, calendar attendees and voicemail, with improved retrieval from browsing history and saved reading items. A single Excluded Apps setting controls which applications the assistant, Search and suggestions may access. The listed compatible phones are the iPhone 16 family and later, plus the 15 Pro and Pro Max. On iOS, mainland China is also excluded. You can also select and copy part of a response.

Samuel Axon’s Ars Technica report treats Siri as the main focus of Apple’s update cycle. It assembles release-note summaries across Apple’s platforms, rather than presenting independent tests of the assistant.
